  • Wahab Riaz.

Pakistan left-arm fast bowlers Wahab Riaz and Junaid Khan had excellent outings in the Bangladesh Premier League on Tuesday, picking up three wickets each in victorious bowling efforts.

Both quicks have curiously been overlooked by the Pakistan team for bigger international assignments and reminded the Pakistan board of their match-winning ability on Tuesday.

Playing for Comilla Victorians, Riaz picked up three wickets for 15 runs in 2.5 overs to help bowl Sylhet Sixers out for just 68, setting the stage for an eight-wicket win. Riaz took care of the lower order after off-spinner Mahedi Hasan had picked up 4-22.

Junaid’s performance for the Khulna Titans was more impressive as he was defending a small total of 128-9 against the Rajshahi Kings.

Opening the bowling, left-arm quick Junaid picked up 3-26 to dismiss Rajshahi for 103 and clinch a narrow victory.

Many Pakistan fans and former players hoped to see Riaz on the quick surfaces of South Africa during the recent Test series where Sarfraz Ahmed’s team was whitewashed 3-0. Pakistan’s seamers were low on pace and Riaz could have provided the X-factor.

Junaid has has long-standing knee issues but showed he can crank it up when needed.
