  • Quinton de Kock.

Opener Quinton de Kock smashed 83 off just 58 balls to seal a seven-wicket win for South Africa chasing 241 against Pakistan in the fifth ODI in Cape Town on Wednesday.

Pakistan were asked to bat first in the fifth and final ODI of the series against South Africa in Newlands on Wednesday.

On a pitch that had good pace, Pakistan’s batsmen made a cautious start. Opener Fakhar Zaman made a fine fifty and set the stage for a challenging total of 240-8.

The Proteas went in with just three frontline bowlers in Dale Steyn, Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir.

Pakistan kept losing wickets but a quickfire 47 from Imad Wasim helped them finish on 240.

In reply, opener De Kock made whirlwind a fifty while captain Faf du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen also hit fifties to seal victory.

South Africa thus  won their sixth straight ODI series decider.
