  • Holder has a task on his hands to lift the West Indies.

Since taking charge in October 2015, West Indies have lost eight and drawn three in Holder’s time at the helm.

Their latest defeat handed Pakistan an unassailable 2-0 series lead going into the third and final match in Sharjah.

But Holder is adamant that his team are improving and that he is happy in the job.

“No, I don’t feel any pressure,” said Holder following the loss. “To be honest, the make-up of our squad is young and inexperienced. It’s going to take time for us to get the results we’ve been looking for.

“We’ve been in a position of inconsistency for the last number of years so I don’t feel any pressure. I’m here to do a job and do it as best I possibly can. I’m motivated as much as I possibly can and we move forward as a group.

“I’m happy as it is, I’m enjoying playing cricket for the West Indies and that’s what I’m here to do.”

West Indies search for a win dates back to their last Test victory in May 2015 over England in Bridgetown when Denesh Ramdin held the reins.

Seven of the team that played here in Abu Dhabi also featured in that match, with Devendra Bishoo, Leon Johnson, Miguel Cummins and Roston Chase the exceptions.

Between those four players there are only 39 Test caps and Holder believes the new faces need time to make an impact, stating that every match that passes is a learning experience for him and his team.

“We’ve taken the step of trying to implement some young faces into the team. It will take time for these guys to nourish and develop, we’ve got to give them the opportunity and if you’ve watched cricket over the last couple of months with us we’ve shown signs of improvement,” added Holder.

“We’re seeing signs of progression, it’s just a matter of consistency here. Everybody is looking to make their mark on the international circuit, we have got some young batsmen who have done well, we’ve got Bishoo in the last game getting an eight-wicket haul, Shannon Gabriel in this game claimed five wickets so we’ve seen signs of individual brilliance.

“It’s just about putting together that strong collective effort and seizing the crucial moments of the game to push forward to the win.”

The third Test begins in Sharjah on Sunday October 30, when West Indies will be looking to avoid a third series whitewash of the tour having been beaten 3-0 in both the proceeding T20I and ODI matches.
