  • The eagerly-awaited five-match Test series gets underway as Virat Kohli’s men seek revenge for their 2012 defeat on home soil by England.

The tourists have confirmed that Haseeb Hameed will become the country’s youngest-ever debutant opening batsman while his opening batting partner, Cook, will break the record for most Tests as England captain when he calls the coin toss in Wednesday’s series opener.

England’s leading run-scorer took over full time from Andrew Strauss in 2012, having also led his country in two Tests in Bangladesh in 2010, and has since drawn level with Michael Atherton’s national record of 54 games in charge.
