  • MS Dhoni (R) shakes hands with then Pakistan ODI captain Misbah-ul-Haq (L).

India limited overs captain MS Dhoni is one of the most popular cricketers in the world, but even he would be surprised to find out that his name appeared on the back of a Pakistan cricket jersey.

During the second Test between Australia and Pakistan at the MCG, a Pakistan fan was seen wearing his national team’s jersey. But what was surprising was that the name on the back of the jersey was that of Dhoni.

Dhoni is one of India’s most successful cricketers, having scored 4876 and 9110 runs in Tests and ODIs respectively. As captain of the Men of Blue, he led the team to victory in the ICC World T20 2007, ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, and ICC Champions Trophy 2013.

India and Pakistan form one of the biggest rivalries in cricket and haven’t played a Test match against each other in over nine years due to political reasons.

Earlier this year, a Virat Kohli fan was arrested in Pakistan for hoisting the Indian flag and a Shahid Afridi fan was arrested in India for sporting a Pakistan jersey.
