  • Stokes is likely to get the NOC to participate in the IPL auction.

Suspended England all-rounder Ben Stokes is set to be given the go ahead from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to put his name in the IPL auctions next month.

The star-man has been handed an indefinite suspension from the national team following an incident at a Bristol night club on September 25.

The 26-year-old continues to be sidelined from the England squad as the board wait to see if Stokes will be charged by the police.

Stokes was given a No-Objection Certificate (NoC) to play for Canterbury in New Zealand, a stint which recently came to an end.

Asked whether Stokes getting a lucrative deal in the IPL while being suspended from international cricket would be harmful for the sport, ECB CEO Tom Harrison replied: “That is for Ben to decide.”

“Having given an NOC for New Zealand, it will be difficult for us to say on balance we would not apply the same thinking to other parts of the world.”

Stokes was the most expensive player in the last edition of the IPL fetching an enormous sum of £1.7million from the Rising Pune Super Giants.

He lived up to that tag in the tournament after being named the most valuable player of the season.

It will be no surprise to see the controversial star purchased for a more lucrative contract this time around when the auction takes place on January 27-28.
