    After Chris Woakes did the early damage by picking up three wickets in the opening session of the Trent Bridge Test, India skipper Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane have led a spirited fightback post lunch with half-centuries.

    6:00pm – Justin Langer looking for answers to Australia’s batting issues

    Australia coach Justin Langer believes he will get a better idea of the composition of his Test squad after the completion of the ‘A’ team’s tour of India. Australia are due to take on Pakistan in a two-Test series in the UAE this October and Langer has stated that the squad will be finalised only a week before the start of the tour.

    5:00pm – UAE announce squad for Asia Cup Qualifiers

    Youngsters Rahul Bhatia and Fahad Nawaz have been named in the UAE squad which will compete in the Asia Cup Qualifier later this month.

    Dale Steyn has called on South African cricket fans to respect AB de Villiers’ decision to retire from international cricket.

    4:00pm – Jason Roy suffers self-inflicted injury to face

    England international Jason Roy missed Surrey’s crucial Vitality Blast game on Friday night due to a self-inflicted facial injury.

    Roy suffered a blow to his face after throwing a bat in frustration following his dismissal in Surrey’s victory against Hampshire on Wednesday night. The bat bounced and hit the 28-year-old.

    3:30 pm – Woakes strikes twice

    Chris Woakes removed openers Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul after the Indian pair added 60 for the opening wicket in the Trent Bridge Test.

    India gave Rishabh Pant his Test debut while Dhawan came in for Murali Vijay and pacer Jasprit Bumrah replaced Kuldeep Yadav.

    Dale Steyn has called on South African cricket fans to respect AB de Villiers’ decision to retire from international cricket.

    “He is married with children. Family time is a big pull for him right now,” Steyn said after De Villiers’ shock retirement.

    Rishabh Pant is all set for an India Test debut.

    A Test debut for young Rishabh Pant is expected as England and India prepare to do battle in the third match of the series at Trent Bridge which gets underway on Saturday.

    The 20-year-old is set to replace wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik in what is a must-win game for the visitors.

    Former Pakistan cricket captain Imran Khan was sworn in as the country’s Prime Minister on Saturday.

    Khan – who led the team to the 1992 World Cup win – took oath on Saturday, a day after being elected by lawmakers in the national assembly.

    Kieron Pollard hit his maiden T20 hundred to hand St Lucia Stars their first win in 15 matches in the Caribbean Premier League, setting up a 38-run triumph over Barbados Tridents.

    Captain Pollard led by example, smashing a 53-ball century – his first in T20s in his 384th innings.
