  • He's back: Pakistan have retained Misbah-ul-Haq.

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who has been ruled out of the remaining ODIs against New Zealand, has been retained in the UAE and shall continue to stay with team while working on his initial treatment and rehabilitation under the watch of squad’s physiotherapist, Brad Robinson.

Currently, team management and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will loathe losing Misbah so close to the World Cup 2015 and Chairman Shaharyar Khan has repeatedly thrown his weight behind the skipper.

Shaharyar even said that the result of ODI series against New Zealand will have no impact and Misbah will remain skipper for Pakistan in the mega event.

According to PCB, team manager Moin Khan has stated the decision was taken after a detailed discussion.

“This was decided by the team management after a detailed discussion on the issue,” said manager Moin Khan.

“The Medical Report clearly indicates that Misbah is out of the remaining three matches of the ongoing series with New Zealand.

"But in the light of the team physio’s recommendation, it was decided to retain Misbah so that he could enter the initial treatment/rehab phase under Brad’s close observation.”

The concluding remark in team physio Brad Robsinson’s report said: “I recommend that Misbah remains on tour so that I am able to treat him daily as well as guide his rehabilitation accordingly.”

Pakistan have been left well short of frontline option as the list of injured players have soared with Umar Gul, Bilawal Bhatti, Sohaib Maqsood, Misbah and Junaid Khan all out of the squad while Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Hafeez have been suspended from bowling due to illegal actions.
