    He has been described as the “heartbeat” of the new-look Australian look team and debutant Marnus Labuschagne certainly lived up to that tag on day two of the first Test between Australia and Pakistan in Dubai.

    “I’m just happy I was able to contribute out there in some way,” said Labuschagne.

    Pakistan’s centurion Haris Sohail revealed he cut out all the noise, including some verbal taunts from the Australian players, to notch up his maiden international century during the first Test in Dubai.

    5:30pm – Australia openers end day two unbeaten at Dubai

    Australia’s brand-new opening pair of Aaron Finch and Marnus Labuchagne have seen off a tricky phase of 13 overs to end the play on day two of the first Test against Pakistan at Dubai.

    Tim Paine’s men picked up five wickets in the final session to bowl Pakistan out for 482 runs in their first innings before Finch and Labuschagne added 30 runs without any loss in their reply.

    4:30pm – Pakistan post 482 in first innings of Dubai Test

    Pakistan’s first innings in the Dubai Test against Australia has drawn to a close with Sarfraz Ahmed’s men posting 482 runs on the board. Resuming from their overnight score of 255-3, Pakistan’s batsmen were in fine flow in the opening two sessions before Australia bounced back hard in the final session. Asad Shafiq was dismissed on 80 while Haris Sohail registered his maiden Test ton.

    3:00pm – Mickey Arthur lauds Virat Kohli’s supreme dedication

    Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur believes India’s Virat Kohli is currently the best batsman in the world and has used him as an example to inspire the players in his side.

    Kohli is currently ranked as the No1 batsman in both the ODI and the Test formats and has continued his stellar form of late into 2018.

    1:30pm –  Pakistan going strong on day two of Dubai Test

    Pakistan’s batsmen have consolidated on their impressive first day showing in the opening Test against Australia at Dubai. Both Asad Shafiq and Haris Sohail have registered their respective half-centuries as Australia’s toils on the field continue.

    The pair took Pakistan to 329-4 at lunch on day two and are still going strong in the second session.

    1:00pm – Matthew Hayden survives major surfing accident

    Australia batting great Matthew Hayden admitted on Monday that he survived a major scare after sustaining spinal and head injuries during a surfing holiday in Queensland.

    The former Australia opener was on a holiday with his family when he suffered the surfing accident on Friday after being taken in by a spill.

    12:00pm – Chris Gayle declines selection for India ODI series

    West Indies stalwart Chris Gayle has declined to make himself available for selection for the side’s upcoming ODI series against India.

    The explosive opening batsman has also made himself unavailable for West Indies’ subsequent tour of Bangladesh. The 39-year-old, however, will be available for selection for West Indies’ home series against England as well as the 2019 ICC World Cup next year.

    10:15am – Waqar Younis says Asia Cup a reality check for Pakistan

    Former coach Waqar Younis has declared Pakistan’s disappointing Asia Cup campaign served as a ‘reality check’, insisting every ODI series from now on will be key ahead of next year’s World Cup.

    The Champions Trophy winners had a tournament to forget in the UAE as they were outclassed by arch -rivals India twice, while also suffering a 37-run loss to Bangladesh which condemned them to a Super Four-stage exit.

    10:00am – India beat Sri Lanka to U19 Asia Cup title

    India sealed another Under-19 Asia Cup after thrashing Sri Lanka by 144 runs on Sunday. Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored with 85 while Anuj Rawat (57), Simran Singh (65) and Ayush Badoni (52) all hit fifties as India set an imposing total of 304-3 in Dhaka.

    In reply, the Sri Lankans fell way short of their target with Nishan Madushka (49) hitting his side’s best score as spinner Harsh Tyagi saved his best till last with a devastating six-wicket spell.
