  • Corey Anderson.

New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson is set to make his long-awaited return to international cricket after being added to the Black Caps squad for the Twenty20 series against Pakistan in the UAE.

Anderson and wicketkeeper Glenn Phillips have been added to the team for the three-match series which begins in the UAE next week.

The seam-bowling all-rounder had been out of action for nearly a year and a half, having undergone surgery for a back injury. No wonder he is glad to be back in blacks.

“It’s obviously been a long road back and after the surgery there were some long tedious days,” said Anderson.

“But this is what the rehab is for and to be picked again is a great feeling.”

The all-rounder didn’t encounter any problems during a recent T20 stint with English outfit Somerset and is currently leading New Zealand ‘A’ against Pakistan A in the UAE.

The first of three T20s between the teams will be played on October 31 followed by a three-ODI and three-Test series.

    New Zealand T20 squad:

Kane Williamson (capt), Colin Munro, Glenn Phillips, Ross Taylor, Mark Chapman, Corey Anderson, Tim Seifert, Colin de Grandhomme, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Adam Milne, Seth Rance, Lockie Ferguson
