  • Bravo will continue playing in T20 leagues around the world.

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo announced his retirement from international cricket on Thursday. The 35-year-old will continue to ply his trade in various T20 franchise leagues around the globe.

Bravo’s last appearance in West Indies colours came in September, 2016 in a T20 clash against Pakistan. Since making his international debut in 2004, the all-rounder has gone on to represent the Windies in 40 Tests, 164 ODIs and 66 T20s.

He was instrumental in both of West Indies’ World Twenty20 triumphs in 2012 and 2016.

“Today I want to confirm to the cricket world that I have officially retired from international cricket in all formats of the game. After 14 years when I made my debut for the West Indies, I still remember that moment I received the maroon cap before walking onto the Lords Cricket Ground against England in July 2004. The enthusiasm and passion I felt then, I have kept with me throughout my career,” Bravo said.

Bravo was key to West Indies' two World T20 triumphs.

“I thank the many loyal fans who continue to support my journey and who recognize my efforts on and off the field. I am extremely fortunate to have a career that has taken me across the globe into the most prestigious dressing rooms sharing experiences with all the recent legends of this glorious game.

“I will continue my professional career as a cricketer and entertain.”

In his 164 ODIs for the Windies, Bravo picked up 199 wickets and scored 2,968 runs.

In T20I cricket, the all-rounder registered 1,142 runs while picking up 52 wickets in 66 matches.
