  • David Warner has confirmed his participation in the BPL.

Australia’s David Warner will play for Sylhet Sixers in the 2018-19 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The 31-year-old made the announcement in a video posted on Sixers’ official Facebook page on Friday. He will be joined by Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane in the Sixers squad.

“I’m very excited to let you know that I’m now a Sixer. I can’t wait to be a part of the Sylhet Sixers family. See you soon!” Warner said in the video.

The sixth edition of the BPL was earlier slated to be held in October this year but has been now postponed to start in January next year.

Warner is currently still serving the one-year ban from international and domestic cricket meted out to him by Cricket Australia for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal that broke out in Newlands earlier this year.

His participation in the BPL will be the third T20 franchise league Warner has played for since he was handed his 12-month ban.

Sandeep Lamichhane's star continues to rise.

Sandeep Lamichhane’s star continues to rise.

He had earlier participated in the inaugural Global T20 Canada along with Steve Smith before taking part in the Caribbean Premier League.

Along with Warner, the Sixers have also roped in Lamichhane for the upcoming edition. The rising Nepal star had only recently become the first player from an Associate nation to earn a contract in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) after he signed for the Melbourne Stars.

Earlier this year, the teenager had become the first Nepalese cricketer to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when he turned out for the Delhi Daredevils.
