  • Nothing going Australia's way at Perth.

Old foes Australia and South Africa lock horns in the first ODI of the three-match series at Perth on Sunday.

It is the first meeting between the two sides since the infamous ball-tampering marred Test series earlier this year which saw Steve Smith and David Warned handed one-year bans from international and domestic cricket respectively.

South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to field first. His decision was vindicated by Dale Steyn who dismissed Travis Head and D’Arcy Short in the third over of the innings.

Australia skipper Aaron Finch fell to Lungi Ngidi in the sixth over as the hosts were reduced to 8-3. Chris Lynn then fell to Andile Phehlukwayo as things went from bad to worse for the hosts. Phehlukwayo picked up two more wickets to dismiss Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis as the hosts slumped to 66-6.

Alex Carey (33) and Nathan Coulter-Nile (34) showed some fight with the bat but the hosts were eventually bowled out for 152 in 38.1 overs. In reply, openers Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks have given the Proteas an excellent start with the duo racing away to 57-0 at the end of 10 overs.

Their 94-run stand for the opening wicket was broken by Nathan Coulter-Nile with De Kock falling for a well-made 47. Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen fell to Stoinis too before the Proteas sailed over the finishing line with six wickets to spare.
