  • Rohit Sharma is a man in form.

Australia batsman Glenn Maxwell believes it will be a difficult task for the hosts to contain India‘s Rohit Sharma in the upcoming T20 series between the two sides.

The India deputy skipper comes into the series on the back of some outstanding form in limited-overs cricket which has seen him become the first batsman to register four international T20 tons.

Maxwell, who is set to turn out for Australia in the three-match series, lavished praise on Rohit’s limited-overs capability.

“Rohit Sharma is an absolute star in limited overs cricket. Getting multiple double hundreds is no mean feat in ODI cricket,” Maxwell told directhit.com.au in an interview.

Rohit holds the world record for the highest ODI score by a batsman with his innings of 264 against Sri Lanka at Kolkata in 2014.

Recalling that innings, Maxwell said: “I remember watching that innings and just going ‘you can’t stop him’. He seems to have a lot more time than other players.”

Maxwell is in awe of Rohit's limited-overs prowess.

“The game just looks easy when he’s out there batting. I suppose that’s the joy of watching him. He is able to hit the ball wherever he likes and is good against pace and spin. He hits the ball miles when he wants to,” he continued.

Rohit and India will now be put to the test in the first of the three T20s which gets underway at the Gabba in Brisbane on Wednesday. Rohit will then hope to make an impact in the four-match Test series to follow as he makes his return to the five-day format.
