  • No play was possible on day one at the SCG.

Day one of the four-day warm up game between Cricket Australia XI and India in Sydney was called off without a single ball being bowled due to rain.

The four-day fixture is India’s sole practice match before they take on hosts Australia in a four-Test series which gets underway at Adelaide on December 6.

On Wednesday, even the toss was not possible at the Sydney Cricket Ground as rain persisted. The day was ultimately called off by the umpires.

The game was initially meant to be a three-day affair but a day was added at the behest of the BCCI and the Indian team management.

Cricket Australia named an inexperienced side for the fixture led by Sam Whiteman. The team features Australia T20 opening batsman D’Arcy Short along with four members of the Australian U19 team who participated in the ICC U19 World Cup in New Zealand at the start of the year.

Virat Kohli and his men will now be hoping that the weather gods relent on Thursday as India look to hone their preparations for the Test series.
