  • Yasir Shah has made a jump of nine spots.

Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah has broken into the top 10 of the ICC Test rankings for bowlers after his 14-wicket haul in his side’s second Test against New Zealand.

Shah’s figures of 14-184 in Pakistan’s innings and 16-run win at Dubai propelled him to the 10th spot in the rankings following a total jump of nine places.

While the Pakistan man has broken into the top 10, South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada reclaimed the No1 ranking among bowlers following James Anderson’s below par displays in England’s 3-0 series whitewash of Sri Lanka.

The veteran England seamer was able to pick up just the one wicket in the series against Sri Lanka and that has seen him drop below Rabada to the No2 spot in the rankings chart.

Pakistan seamer Mohammad Abbas remains stationary in the No3 spot followed by Vernon Philander of South Africa and Ravindra Jadeja of India.

In the batting department, India’s Virat Kohli continues to hold on to the top spot ahead of Australia’s Steve Smith and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson. England skipper Joe Root remains in the fourth spot in the table despite his century in the second Test against Sri Lanka at Pallekele.

There were gains for Pakistan batsmen Azhar Ali and Babar Azam following their showings in the second Test against New Zealand. Azhar climbed three places to reach the 13th spot following his knock of 81 while Azam’s maiden Test ton has seen him make a jump of 24 places to claim the 39th spot.

England’s Jonny Bairstow too has made a substantial jump following his ton in the third Test at Colombo and is now in the 16th spot after a rise of six places.
