    Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh denied issuing an emotional apology to former Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds over the ‘monkeygate’ controversy of the 2008 Sydney Test.

    Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc brushed aside the criticism from former leg-spinner Shane Warne as the legend once again targeted the pacer.

    Warne had criticised Starc’s performance in the first Test against India in Adelaide, calling the left-armer’s two-over spell with the second new ball on Day Four as “atrocious”.

    3:00pm – Australia lead by 175 in second Test against India

    Day three in the second Test between Australia and India at Perth has drawn to a close with the match still finely balanced on an edge.

    After bowling India out for 283 in the first innings, the hosts racked up a further 132-4 to take their overall lead to 175 heading into day four.

    01:00pm – Symonds reveals Harbahajan Singh’s emotional apology

    A decade since the infamous ‘monkeygate’ scandal, former Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds has revealed that Harbhajan Singh broke down crying when the pair finally reconciled their differences in 2011.

    The incident had occurred during the Sydney Test in India’s 2008 tour of Australia with Singh being accused of calling Symonds a ‘monkey’.

    12:00pm – Teenage India pacer picks up 10 wickets in one innings

    Teenage Indian pacer Rex Singh entered himself into an exclusive club of bowlers to have picked up all 10 wickets in an innings through his efforts in an U19 Cooch-Behar Trophy four-day game at Anantpur.

    The left-armed Manipur pacer put on an exhibition of swing bowling to end with remarkable figures of 10-11 from his 9.5 overs.

    10:30am – New Zealand take control of Wellington Test

    New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson fell nine runs short of a ton but his side were in the driving seat upon the completion of day two in the opening Test against Sri Lankaat Wellington.

    Williamson fell for 91 in the final session of the day as the Kiwis reached a commanding 311-2 in their first innings.

    10:00am – PSL franchises fume at PCB goof up

    Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises were left seething after the Pakistan Cricket Board inadvertently revealed financial details of all teams to each other.

    The Pakistan board had earlier asked for the financial statements of all five existing franchises in order to present a case in front of federal and provincial governments for tax relief for franchises.

    9:00am – Afridi urges Sarfraz to step aside from Tests

    Former Pakistan captain and star all-rounder Shahid Afridi has urged current skipper Sarfraz Ahmed to ‘put Test cricket aside’ and concentrate on limited overs cricket.

    Sarfraz has come under increasing pressure in the Test format after losing the ‘home’ series against Sri Lanka in the UAE last year 2-0 and the recent clash against New Zealand 2-1.

    8:30am – Cricket Australia CEO wants more four-day Tests

    Cricket Australia’s new chief executive officer Kevin Roberts believes that four-day Test matches could be the need of the hour for the format in the future.

    Roberts, who replaced James Sutherland as Cricket Australia CEO, feels that the four-day format could have a much greater role to play once the inaugural Test Championship come to an end in 2021.

    7:15am – Virat Kohli notches up 25th Test ton

    Day three in the second Test between Australia and India has got underway at Perth in fine fashion for the hosts. Overnight batsman Ajinkya Rahane (51) fell in the very first over of the day before India skipper Virat Kohli brought up his 25th Test ton.

    6:00am – Ponting expects Shaw return in third Test

    India opening batsman Prithvi Shaw took his first steps towards returning to the playing XI on Saturday as he received throwdowns at the Perth Stadium.

    Shaw’s progress means one of either KL Rahul or Murali Vijay will have to make way and according to former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, the out-of-form Vijay looks most likely to miss out.
