  • South Africa's bowlers have come roaring back.

Pakistan kept themselves in contention in the opening Test against South Africa at the Centurion as they restricted the hosts’ first innings lead to 42.

The hosts resumed their first innings at 127-5 on day two and added a further 97 runs before being bowled out.

Pakistan pacers Mohammad Amir and Shaheen Afridi shared eight wickets between themselves while Temba Bavuma (53) registered a fine half-century for the hosts.

Pakistan got off to an excellent start with the bat in the second innings with openers Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman wiping out the 42-run deficit in no time before the latter fell to Duanne Olivier. The Proteas seamer then removed Imam and Azhar Ali in quick succession to bring the hosts roaring back into the contest.

Olivier completed his second five-for in the Test to bring up a 10-wicket match haul as Pakistan were bowled out for 190 runs ultimately.

Earlier on day one, Pakistan had been bundled out for 181 runs in their first innings with Babar Azam top-scoring with a 71.
