Nepal sensation Sandeep Lamichhane has bid adieu to the Big Bash League (BBL) after a successful maiden stint with the Melbourne Stars.
The teenage leg-spinner impressed highly in the four games he played for the Stars while picking up a total of eight wickets.
On Tuesday, Lamichhane returned with figures of 1-18 from his four overs to play a big role in Stars’ seven-wicket over the Renegades in the Melbourne derby.
The Nepal star bamboozled Renegades skipper Tom Cooper with a googly to help the restrict the opposition to 148-8 in their 20 overs. An unbeaten 78 from Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis helped the Stars to a comfortable victory as Lamichhance’s BBL stint came to a winning end.
The teenager had quickly developed a cult-status in Melbourne with a large and passionate Nepalese fan contingent cheering him on in every game that he played.

Lamichhane will now join up with the Sylhet Sixers squad for his maiden foray in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) which gets underway on January 5.
“It was great playing some early few games for Melbourne Stars! An amazing win last night against the Renegades and now am off to Bangladesh for the BPL representing Sylhet Sixers! Wishing good luck to everyone for upcoming games to the Stars family. Cheers,” Lamichhane wrote on his Twitter account upon his departure for Bangladesh.
It has been a whirlwind 2018 for the Nepal prodigy who became the first player from his country to play in the IPL after earning a contract with Delhi Capitals. Following his maiden appearance in the IPL, Lamichhane undertook stints in the Global T20 Canada and Caribbean Premier League before ending the year with the BBL in Australia.
Following the completion of his BPL stint with Sylhet Sixers, Lamichhane will turn out for Lahore Qalandars in the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
