  • Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo.

Following their excellent display against world No1 England, Dwayne Bravo believes that the West Indies will be a tricky opponent for any team in the upcoming ICC World Cup.

West Indies gave the Englishmen an excellent run for their money in the five-match series and bounced back with a thumping seven-wicket win in the final ODI on Saturday to level it at 2-2.

It was Chris Gayle who led the charge for the hosts in the series with the West Indies veteran slamming two tons and as many half-centuries in the four clashes. The explosive left-hander racked up 424 runs in the series at an average of 106 and a strike-rate of 134 while striking a record 39 sixes in total.

Former Windies stalwart Bravo feels that Jason Holder and his men could pose a huge threat in the World Cup which he is expecting to be a very open one.

Chris Gayle was in irresistible form in the ODI series.

“We have some good young players who have been improving and developing well and it is good to see the way the team is doing against England which is the number one ODI side,” Bravo told Press Trust of India (PTI) in Dubai.

“I have talked to captain Jason Holder and others and I believe this team will be a threat to all teams in the World Cup which is going to be a very open tournament this time.

“Anyone can do well on a given day but I feel confident about West Indies as we see a good mix of experience and youth.”

Having retired from international cricket, Bravo is currently representing Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL).
