Australia ODI skipper Aaron Finch believes that David Warner is ready to dominate international cricket once again as the left-hander gets ready to make his return in national team colours.
Having served their one-year suspensions for the infamous ball-tampering saga at Cape Town, both Warner and Steve Smith have been included in Australia’s 15-man squad for the upcoming 2019 ICC World Cup in England.
The two batsmen arrived in Brisbane on Thursday for Australia’s World Cup preparatory camp which gets underway on Friday. Both the Aussies recently completed their returns to the Indian Premier League (IPL) after a one-year absence with Warner scoring a staggering 692 runs on his Sunrisers Hyderabad comeback.
Taking heart from Warner’s stupendous IPL display, Finch feels that the controversial southpaw is now ready to do the same in Australia colours.
“I think he (Warner) is coming back with a huge hunger, not just to perform well for his IPL franchise and things like that but to dominate international cricket again,” Finch told Melbourne radio station SEN.

“When you have your dream taken away from you for 12 months, there would be something deep inside you that burns really strongly. He’s a super player and we know how destructive he can be.
“I think, having that time off to spend with his family and get away from the game… yeah it was unfortunate and they served their ban and they’re back. But it is such an important time for everyone to embrace that and embrace them coming back into the culture.”
Finch is also hoping to pick the brains of his predecessor Steve Smith during the World Cup training camp in Brisbane.
“We’re (in Brisbane) for eight days, so there’ll be plenty of time to sit down for a coffee or over dinner to talk about my plan for him and how I want to use him as a resource for myself and the senior players as well,” Finch said.
“I’ve got no doubt he’ll be open-minded with everything,” he added.
Defending champions Australia are set to open their 2019 World Cup campaign on June 1 when they take on Afghanistan at Bristol.
