While the euphoria of England’s maiden World Cup win continues to linger, the hosts turn their attention to Test cricket as they take on Ireland in a one-off match at Lord’s.
Jason Roy’s England Test debut innings ended on just five runs with the World Cup winner falling to Tim Murtagh in the third over of the match. The hosts soon found themselves rocking at 67-9 with Murtagh writing his name into the Lord’s honours board with a five-wicket haul.
Ireland, meanwhile, are playing only their third-ever Test match since gaining full ICC membership last year. They were beaten by Pakistan and Afghanistan in their previous two appearances in the format.
