Q1. During the build up to the IPL 2016, a few pictures were shared of a certain player’s record in his first season of the event. In his first campaign playing for Rajasthan Royals he won the IPL, as he did for Sydney Sixers, Brisbane Heat and Islamabad United.

Having moved teams this season, people wondered if he could win the cup in his first campaign again. Can you identify this player, who regards Terry Alderman as his mentor?

Q2. It was said of X that the only English he knows is “problem” and “no problem”. If there’s something he doesn’t understand, it’s the former, if it’s something he does, it’s the latter.

However, X didn’t let his lack of English deter him while communicating with his team. He actively used gestures wherever possible and also had sub Ricky Bhui acting as translator during breaks. Identify X who, apart from the IPL, is also a player who took a fife-for on debut in ODIs.

Q3. This stadium is the second largest in India and fourth largest in the world in terms of capacity. It also serves as an alternate home ground for the Delhi Daredevils and is named after a landlord from Sonakhan who spearheaded the 1857 revolution from Chattisgarh.

The first international match that was played here was between the Canada National Team and the Chattisgarh cricket team. Irfan Pathan, in awe of the facilities, noted that “when opportunities are created, and such facilities are in place, there is the hope that cricketers will emerge. I hope to play again at this wonderful venue.”

In which city is this stadium located?

Q5. One IPL franchise this year had a name entirely designed to allow the acronym to reflect the company that owns it. Its logo bears a possibly Quidditch inspired golden ball and a pair of wings reminiscent of the Bentley equivalent.

Name this team which didn’t do quite as well as planned and eventually sunk towards the bottom of the table.

Q6. This cricketer was the first Australian in over 132 years to be selected for the national team in any format without a single experience of first-class cricket. Currently ranked 5th in the ICC’s Test batsmen list, he’s fondly called Kaboom, Bull and Lloyd (for he can be as destructive as Clive Lloyd).

Although known for his fiery temper that saw Martin Crowe call for yellow and red cards in cricket to curb his behaviour, he’s managed to cool off and only responded with a smile to the invite to fight a certain bowler coming from the Akhadas of UP.

Q7. X is an attacking wrist spinner who first attracted attention when he took 34 wickets in the National Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy in 2009, ending the tournament as its leading wicket-taker.

A former chess player who represented India at junior levels, X made his first-class debut for Haryana the same year and was signed by Mumbai Indians in 2011 to be part of their IPL squad. He later saw success as a part of another franchise and had a successful IPL 2016 as far as wickets go.

Q9. This action has been called the ‘Frog-in-a-Blender’ and no one thought they would see anything of the sort after seeing the back of a certain South African. However, there was an heir in the form of Shivil Kaushik who, when pressed into attack, a spirit seems to enter as he bends knees, twists torso and sends the ball down with his left-arm spiraling around his head.

But who is the South African spinner who Shivil Kaushik reminds us of?

Q10. X’s father, who played one Test for India, was what Mike Agassi was to Andre. So obsessed was he with his son’s cricket that he took a skating gold medal off the youngster’s neck and threw it out of the car. From then on X has played cricket.

The major shift came when, at 15, he carried kit bags in crowded local trains, living away from his parents.
