  • Kohli is a major doubt for the IPL.

India captain Virat Kohli suffered a shoulder injury during the recent Test series against Australia, which India won 2-1.

When asked about his injury at the post-match presentation in Dharamsala, Kohli said: “It’s still a few weeks to go until I can be 100% on the field, but I’ve got to take it in my stride. These things happen in your career.”

Vettori, while addressing the IPL side’s first press conference of the season on Thursday, confirmed that although Kohli will be joining the RCB camp on April 2, his availability for matches will be dependent on the results of fitness tests conducted by the BCCI.

“The BCCI doctors and physio will be in touch with us before Kohli joins us. Right now, we don’t have a clear picture over his availability. We’ll know more in the next few days,” the former New Zealand spinner said.

“It’s most likely De Villiers will take over the duties as captain but we can address that situation once we find out about Kohli’s condition.”

Vettori also believes that it is an opportunity to test the bench strength of the Bengaluru-based outfit and has urged young stars to step up in the Indian captain’s absence.
