  • Tewatia (R) celebrates after dismissing Uthappa [Sportzpics]

It wasn’t easy to pick the best player from the match between Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders that took place in Mohali on Tuesday.

There was Mohit Sharma who bowled superbly in the death overs and for Kolkata, Chris Lynn produced an outstanding batting effort which saw him score 84 from just 52 deliveries.

And then, there was Rahul Tewatia who was playing in his first game of the Indian Premier League [IPL] season and came up with the most crucial spell of the match.

At 78-1 after 9.2 overs, Kolkata looked well on their way to chasing down a target of 168. That was when Tewatia took two important wickets [Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa] within the next three deliveries to change the course of the match.

The leg-spinner would concede just 18 runs from his four overs as Kolkata lost whatever momentum they had.

Tewatia also made an useful contribution with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 15 from eight deliveries.

Punjab would win the match by 14 runs to keep their hopes of reaching the playoffs alive.
