Washington Sundar has done a commendable job for Rising Pune Supergiant whenever he has been asked to bowl in the Powerplay overs in this season’s Indian Premier League [IPL].
Just 17 years old, Sundar has shown some immense maturity while bowling to some of the biggest names in modern-day cricket over the last month.
On Tuesday, he produced his best performance of the season as he took three wickets to rip apart the core of Mumbai’s batting and, thereby, guided Pune to the IPL final.
Chasing 163 might not have looked like the toughest of tasks for a strong Mumbai batting line-up, but Sundar was on hand to take the crucial scalps of Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, and Kieron Pollard.
In addition to picking up three important wickets, Sundar was very economical as well, conceding just 16 runs from his four overs. It was hardly surprising, then, that he was named as the Player of the Match.
Marvelous victory today moves us directly into the #IPLFinal 😎@Sundarwashi5 played a huge role! ATI SUNDAR! 👌#RangWahiJungNayi pic.twitter.com/81d33qBuMv

MS Dhoni as much the MOM as Washington Sundar. 41 in last two overs brought the belief back in the RPS camp.#MIvsRPS

Washington Sundar is a top order batsman. Making the side for his off-spin. Lesson? Always good to know a second language!!
