  • Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson suffered a horrific head injury during a gym session and uploaded the gruesome images on Instagram.

The 36-year-old fast bowler revealed the injury was the result of a gym session on a chin-up bar gone wrong. The left-arm pacer apparently received 16 stitches for the nasty gash but said he is now feeling fine.

“If you don’t like blood & cuts then don’t look through these pics! Not the best thing I’ve ever done to myself but I’m am fine,” Johnson said in his Instagram post.

Johnson’s head injury will be of some concern for IPL side Kolkata Knight Riders for whom he is expected to turn out in the 11th edition of the tournament which starts on April 4.

Johnson is expected to lead Kolkata’s pace attack alongside Mitchell Starc.
