  • Defending champions Mumbai Indians are on the brink of elimination from the 11th edition of the IPL as they face an in-form Kings XI Punjab on Friday.

Mumbai are now at the bottom of the table with just two wins from eight games. Defeat on Friday will mean end of the road for Rohit Sharma’s team.

They welcomed Kieron Pollard back into the team in the last match against Bangalore but he failed again. With pressure at its highest, Mumbai Indians will be desperate for opening batsman Evin Lewis to regain his fitness. He missed the last game due to a wrist injury and Mumbai Indians player Aditya Tare revealed the left-hander has taken injections to be ready for the Punjab match.

“Hopefully, he’s recovered. He took an injection. I think he should be fine. I feel he’ll be fine for the game,” Tare said on Thursday.

    Likely line-ups

Kings XI Punjab: Chris Gayle, KL Rahul (wk), Mayank Agarwal, Aaron Finch, Karun Nair, Manoj Tiwary, Ravichandran Ashwin (c), Andrew Tye, Barinder Sran, Ankit Rajpoot, Mujeeb ur Rahman.
