Sunrisers Hyderabad’s IPL campaign ended in defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings in the final but it was a season to remember for skipper Kane Williamson and leg-spinner Rashid Khan.

Williamson finished as the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 735 runs from 17 innings at an average of 52.50. On the other hand, Afghanistan’s Rashid finished as the second highest wicket-taker in the tournament behind Australia’s Andrew Tye with 21 scalps in 17 matches at an economy rate of just 6.73.

Following the loss in the final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the Sunrisers skipper described the Afghanistan man as the ‘complete package’ and foresees a bright Test career for the youngster.

The 19-year-old will be making his debut in red-ball cricket when Afghanistan take on India in their maiden Test next month at Bengaluru.

“He’s a world class player. We’ve seen that in this format but it’s great that he’s going to be play some Test cricket and I think it is a challenge for anyone but an enjoyable challenge because he’s up there with the top spinners in the game,” Williamson said about Rashid.

“It’s always a pleasure to face him at the nets and against him as well in the near future. If the wicket’s responding, like any spinner that offers him a bit more. The full package (of) Rashid is great to have in the side,” the Blackcaps skipper added.

The Afghan teenager was recently called the best bowler in the T20 format by India legend Sachin Tendulkar.
