The 2019 Indian Premier League season heads into match 29 with Kolkata Knight Riders hosting Chennai Super Kings in the first game of Sunday’s double-header.

As fans, watching the action is not the only thing to look forward to – IPL fantasy games mean you have the opportunity to get involved as well.

As the IPL’s official partner, Dream11 runs a daily contest for each game apart from the default format which is conducted per round.

Here, we focus on helping you navigate your way through the former.

BATSMAN

Nitish Rana – Kolkata Knight Riders (9 credits)

While there are the likes of Shane Watson and Chris Lynn to choose from, it is KKR’s Nitish Rana who gets the nod due to his incredible consistency for the franchise over the years.

The left-handed batsman has already registered two fine half-centuries in the ongoing edition and is striking the ball at a strike-rate of nearly 150. Rana’s average of 30 in the ongoing campaign guarantees its fair share of fantasy points.

With the southpaw playing in home conditions at the Eden Gardens, he can be expected to make a big impact in the clash.

BOWLER

Imran Tahir – Chennai Super Kings (9 credits)

After struggling for opportunities in the 2018 edition, veteran Imran Tahir has been a revelation in the ongoing campaign.

The 40-year-old leg-spinner has picked up nine wickets in his seven appearances so far which have all come at an outstanding economy-rate of just 5.61.

The Proteas ace’s wicket-to-wicket line and subtle variations make him a tough proposition for any batsmen to handle and his excitement and eagerness on the field is second to none.

With the Eden Gardens pitch having something for the slower bowlers, expect Tahir to continue his excellent run and add a few more scalps to his name.

ALL-ROUNDER

Andre Russell – Kolkata Knight Riders (10 credits)

There is no question at all about this pick with the West Indies all-rounder already featuring prominently in most fantasy line ups and with good reason.

Russell has now registered six consecutive scores of above 40 in the ongoing campaign with his total of 302 runs coming at a staggering strike-rate of over 212.

What’s more, the all-rounder has even chipped in substantially with the ball with six wickets to show for from his seven appearances.

Although his fitness is being carefully monitored, expect KKR to unleash Russell again on Sunday as the one-man ‘Dre Russ’ army continues to march on.

WICKETKEEPER

MS Dhoni – Chennai Super Kings (9 credits)

There are two able wicketkeeper-batsmen on both sides but it is veteran MS Dhoni who ends up as our pick due to his better current form.

The CSK skipper is averaging over 107 with the bat in the ongoing edition where he has already registered two crucial half-centuries so far in his seven appearances.

The India veteran will be eager to carry on from his match-winning innings of 58 against Rajasthan Royals in CSK’s most recent clash. Plus, his wicketkeeping abilities are second to none so one can always expect a fair few points in that department.

Pant was sensational against Mumbai Indians.

The 2019 Indian Premier League season heads into match 30 with Sunrisers Hyderabad taking on Delhi Capitals in the second game of Sunday’s double-header.

BATSMAN

David Warner – Sunrisers Hyderabad (11 credits)

The Australia opener started the season on fire with two half-centuries and a sensational hundred in his first three appearances but then went off the boil in the subsequent two clashes.

However, Warner has regained form just in the nick of time for the clash against Delhi with a hard-fought 62-ball 72 against KXIP at Mohali.

He is still averaging nearly 88 in the ongoing edition with a strike-rate just under 147 and continues to top the run-scoring charts with 349 of them so far to his tally.

With Sunrisers desperately needing a big performance on Sunday, Warner will be extra motivated and the southpaw relishes performing under pressure.

BOWLER

Kagiso Rabada – Delhi Capitals (9 credits)

While spinners have been expected to thrive once again in the IPL, it is a pacer who has been the pick of all bowlers so far. Delhi’s Kagiso Rabada missed the entire 2018 edition due to an injury and he has arrived in the ongoing campaign with a point to prove.

The South Africa fast-bowler has been nothing short of exceptional so far with 13 dismissals in seven appearances which have come at a strike-rate of just over 12.

The ‘Purple Cap’ holder has picked up six wickets in his most recent two appearances and he will be the biggest threat to Sunrisers’ formidable batting unit on Sunday.

ALL-ROUNDER

Mohammad Nabi – Sunrisers Hyderabad (8.5 credits)

There are not many straightforward options for the all-rounder’s role but it is Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi who seems the most suited to perform on Sunday.

The Afghan veteran has been excellent for Hyderabad over the course of the campaign despite an expensive display in the most recent loss to KXIP.

With seven wickets in four matches at an economy-rate of just 5.49, there are not many bowling options better than Nabi in the IPL currently.

Although he is averaging just 20 with the bat, Nabi is no mug when it comes to delivering the big hits and he could make a sizable contribution in that department as well if given an opportunity.

WICKETKEEPER

Rishabh Pant – Delhi Capitals (10 credits)

Both sides have excellent options available to them in the wicketkeeping department but it is Delhi’s Rishabh Pant who slightly edged Hyderabad’s Jonny Bairstow.

With Kane Williamson set to return to Sunrisers’ playing XI, there is every chance Bairstow could be dropped given he has gone off the boil after an electric start.

Pant, meanwhile, might not have reached the heights that he hit last season for Delhi yet but the youngster has been growing in confidence with each passing game.

His 21-ball 45 was crucial to Delhi beating Kolkata at the Eden Gardens and the left-hander is now averaging 37 with the bat in the 2019 edition while maintaining a strike-rate of over 166.

Expect fireworks from his bat if he gets going at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium.

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli was a relieved man after his side finally broke their 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) duck to record their first win of the tournament by beating Kings XI Punjab.

Kohli and South African ace AB de Villiers both registered half-centuries as RCB chased down the 174-run target with eights wickets and four balls to spare at Mohali.

It was the maiden win of the season for the Bengaluru franchise after six straight defeats and the relief on Kohli’s face was evident to see at the end of the game.

“Great feeling to get across the line,” the RCB and India skipper stated at the post-match ceremony.

“Couple of games we should have closed out before this. I am not saying we had chances in all games before this but there were a couple of games we should have closed out.

“After so many setbacks, the guys had desire – that’s one word we spoke about.”

A similar relief was expressed by de Villiers after his match-winning unbeaten knock of 59 (38).

“We’ve waited a long time for this one this season. It’s a small step in the right direction but a step nonetheless,” ABD said after being bestowed with the man-of-the-match award.

For Kings XI Punjab, it was their first defeat of the season at their home ground in Mohali. Expressing his disappointment at the end of the game, KXIP skipper Ravi Ashwin said, “We let ourselves down on the field, but they batted sensibly.”

“The crowd has been fantastic, and we have a few more games at home and hope we get the same kind of support. We need to string some wins and gain some momentum.”

With the win, RCB remain rooted to bottom spot in the league table with two points from seven games. Kings XI, meanwhile, remained in fifth spot with eight points from as many matches.
