  • Aggressive approach: Mathews.

Delhi Daredevils are placed in the middle of the IPL table, having won three and lost as many matches this season.

Their next opponents Royal Challengers Bangalore have blown hot and cold so far, having won two and lost three matches.

But Bangalore are a dangerous outfit, as they proved against Rajasthan Royals in their previous match with they won by nine wickets.

The presence of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers is enough to make any opposition wary and Delhi all-rounder Angelo Mathews admitted that containing the Bangalore batting will be their main target today.

“We have got a few plans for them. But we have to go out there and be aggressive,” Mathews was quoted as saying by iplt20.com.

“You can’t really contain because you have seen in the past, most teams have dominated in the last six or seven overs if they still have wickets in hand. So, you need to try and take wickets early on and look to take wickets all the time”

Mathews lauded the efforts of young openers Shreyas Iyer (227 runs) and Mayank Agarwal (123), who have performed above expectations.

He added: “Mayank has been good, Shreyas has been tremendous. They play with a lot of freedom. From the coaches to the captain, they have created an environment where youngsters can go out there and express themselves.”
