  • Into the final: PAK Hawks after winning their semi-final.

PAK Hawks Sharjah coach Fahim Alvi has backed Ibrar Hussain to continue his impressive form with the bat when they meet GEMS Modern Academy in the Under-13 Sport360 National School League (NSL) final.

The opener has been pivotal to the PAK Hawks’ run to the final, scoring 109 runs in his previous two games.

In the semi-final against DPS Falcons, he struck four boundaries and three sixes en route to a 66-run knock at the ICC Academy.

Hussain is currently fourth in the overall batting standings, and Alvi feels GEMS should be wary of the batsman.

He said: “Ibrar has been very good for us in the last couple of matches and he has found his form at the right time. If he can fire again, then we can definitely score a good total.”

GEMS were made to work for their semi-final win as Dheeraj Devarajan struck a decisive last-ball boundary in their one-wicket victory against Efians Army.

And their coach Shafiq Ahmed said that victory was  a good way for the players to prepare for the final.

“That victory was very good for us because it showed that the players have to focus until the end of each game,” he said.

“We’ve worked out a plan and hopefully we can execute it on the day. There is enough quality in our team – we can do extremely well with the bat and ball.”
