The fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League saw its first major controversy in the opening weekend itself following a heated exchange of words between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings management.

After their clash in Dubai on Saturday, allegations of foul language from management groups of both sides flew thick and fast with BBC Urdu reporting that both teams have notified PSL management about the incident.

According to reports, Karachi have accused one member sitting in the VIP box of Lahore Qalandars at the Dubai stadium of using foul language while the Qalandars have apparently accused Karachi’s team senior management of inappropriate behaviour.

According to BBC Urdu, the Pakistan board has received complaints from both franchises.

That report quoted Karachi owner Salman Iqbal as saying: “It is not an India-Pakistan match but it’s our own league. It is very important to show humility.”

A report on behtareen.pk stated Qalandars manager Sameen Rana said the team management has lodged a complaint.

Videos have surfaced of the alleged incident where the Karachi management is seen asking the stadium security to evict one member in the Qalandars VIP box.

When contacted, the Pakistan board representative said the board will not comment until it has “something formal as per procedure”.
