  • Javed has been the UAE's most successful coach.

Javed, who was previously in the running for the Pakistan head coach role before withdrawing his candidacy, says he is in talks with Qalandars over taking up the post of director of cricket.

The former Pakistan fast bowler joined the UAE in 2012 after previous roles within the PCB as head coach of their National Cricket Academy and assistant coach of the national team.

He also led Pakistan to the U19 Cricket World Cup and now leaves the UAE as their most successful coach in history.

Javed took the emirates outfit to a second 50-over World Cup and a first World T20 and will now leave with the team on the brink of securing their first professional contracts.

“I have resigned as coach but will continue working until the end of May,” Javed told Sport360.

“I might join Lahore Qalandars and discussions are on-going. I will meet with their officials in Pakistan and possibly take up the Director of Cricket role.”

“After discussing with my family, I was thinking as well (about moving on) after spending four and a half years with the UAE cricket team. It’s a long time and so far we have achieved every goal and I didn’t want to repeat things again and again.”
