  • Successive defeats: UAE captain Rohit Singh sends a ball down the track

Hosts UAE suffered their second defeat in the Under-19s Asia Cup Cricket Tournament when they went down to Pakistan by 150 runs at the Sharjah Stadium on Sunday.

Though the UAE bowlers led by their medium-pacer Pankaj Prakash (4-63) did well to restrict Pakistan to 274-9 in 50 overs, their batsmen failed to capitalise on a superb start and crumbled to 124 all out in 38.5 overs.

Openers Chirag Suri (38 off 41 balls) and Shivank Vijayakumar (37 off 84 balls) made a bold dash for the 275-run target raising 56 runs in 12.3 overs. However, once Suri was dismissed the innings lost momentum and they lost eight wickets for just 42 runs.

Leg-spinner Karamat Ali did most of the damage claiming five wickets for 25 runs.

In other matches of the day, India thumped Nepal by nine wickets, Bangladesh edged out Afghanistan by 16 runs and Sri Lanka crushed Malaysia by 255 runs.

UAE play their last group match against Nepal tomorrow at Sharjah and on the same day Bangladesh face Sri Lanka at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

But the marquee clash of the day will be between India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium.

Brief scores: Pakistan U19s 274-9 in 50 overs (Hasan Raza 60, Saud Shakeel 74, Kamran Ghulam 42; Pankaj Prakash 4-63) beat UAE 124 all out in 38.5 overs (Chirag Suri 38, Shivank Vijayakumar 37; Karamat Ali 5-25) by 150 runs.
