  • Yodhin Punja also excelled for UBL.

At the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Tharindu Mendis’s unbeaten half-century (54) and valuable contributions from UAE internationals Mohammad Shahzad (46) and Shaiman Anwar (37) saw Lions reach a competitive total of 233 in their 50 overs.

Despite Umair Ali’s 51-run effort, Riaz Afridi and Zahoor Khan took three wickets each as Tigers were restricted to 227-7.

Elsewhere, New Medical Centre saw five of their batsmen score half-centuries as they thrashed Enigma by 470 runs.

Former UAE international Saqib Ali top-scored with 103 from 60 balls.

Although he retired, his team-mates piled on the runs with Niresh Fernando (81), Fayyaz Ahmed (70), Shahbaz Ahmed (57) and Hafeez Ilyas (50) scoring big as NMC posted a gigantic total of 528-7.

As expected, Enigma came nowhere near their target as Alam Gir and Mir Waiz claimed five and three scalps respectively.

UAE teenager Yodhin Punja showed why he’s highly rated by outgoing head coach Aaqib Javed by producing a devastasting spell for United Bank Limited with the ball. The 17-year-old finished with figures of 4-32 as Interface were all out for 73 in 18 overs.

In reply, UBL wasted no time in claiming an eight-wicket victory with Amjad Ali’s 38 seeing them home inside 10 overs.
