  • Peerless: Multiplex International players pose with the trophy and officials.

Batting first at Zabeel Park Cricket Ground, Ahmed was in fine form with the bat for Multiplex as his 119-run knock saw them post 245 for five in their allotted 20 overs.

Facing 51 balls before retiring hurt, Ahmed blasted six boundaries and 10 sixes. That knock proved to be the difference as Motors were restricted to 169 for nine.

While the victory saw Multiplex remain unbeaten in the competition, Motors skipper Hitesh Parekh will rue the decision of fielding after winning the toss.

Ali Zeeshan and Ahmed stamped their mark on proceedings, scoring runs freely and, within five overs, the scoreboard read 68-0.

Zeeshan was dismissed after scoring 45 and Motors got another wicket as Multiplex were 94-2. However, UAE international Shahzad Manna and Ahmed piled on the runs. Finally, with the score reading 197-2 in the 15th over, Motors found the breakthough by removing Manna (56 off 28 balls).

Set a stiff target of 246, Motors needed a strong opening partnership, but Waqas Raja (7) was sent back to the pavilion and from there on wickets fell at regular intervals.

Only Adnan Arif looked threatening for a while as he blasted 68 off just 27 balls, including four boundaries and seven sixes.

However, his dismissal by Abdul Haq brought a premature end to the contest. Multiplex had the match under control after that as they completed the formalities.

It was no surprise that Ahmed was named man of the match, while Motors’ Saqlain Haider was named best batsman and Syed Asif Abbas of Multiplex was adjudged best bowler. Hypertech Holograms’ Shad Hamza took the top accolade by winning the best player of the tournament award.
