  • Javed's side were disappointing last time out.

Javed’s side go into Tuesday’s ODI clash in Edinburgh looking to make amends for the 98-run defeat in the World Cricket League Championship on Sunday.

It was a frustrating day for the tourists with two dropped catches costing them dearly as the hosts amassed 327-5 before being bowled out for 229.

With six losses in seven, UAE now face an uphill struggle to secure a top-four finish in the standings for a place in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, and Javed insists defeat is no option.

“It’s a must-win game for us, there’s no doubt about it,” said the 36-year-old all-rounder.

“We know it’s going to be hard out as Scotland are a very good side. Definitely, we have to stop doing the mistakes that we did on Sunday. That’s the key. When you are playing against a strong side, you cannot afford to give them chances and have to minimise your mistakes.

“Otherwise you will always be on the losing side. I think the most important thing is that the boys will know what mistakes they have done and hopefully they will not do the same again for the next game.”

Spinner Ahmed Raza (2-28) and all-rounder Mohammad Shahzad (3-61) shared the five wickets in the loss and while Javed lauded the pair, he expects a strong response from his players.

“They did really well and so did the openers. But we know we have to do much better this time around.”
