  • Superb: Salman Babar.

A five-wicket haul from Salman Babar saw Singh Diesel rout Gazal Generators by 90 runs in the inaugural Musthaq Premier League.

Needing a massive 227 to win, Gazal suffered early losses with the top three batsmen failing to reach double digits.

Babar kept the pressure as he picked up five wickets in his four overs giving away only 15 runs while Fawad Gafoor bagged two before Al Gazal were all out for 136 in their allotted 20 overs.

Earlier, electing to bat, Singh Diesel openers Abdul Wahid and Salman Babar provided a fine start with the former hammering a brilliant half century.

Meanwhile, in the tournament’s other game, Hologram Players CC sealed a 41-run victory over Al Munsif Cont Co. Shaan E Alam and Vishnu K Sukumaran each scored 42 while Venu Vijayan contributed with an unbeaten 36 as Hologram posted a challenging total of 192-5.

Their target was always going to be tricky and their batsmen were unable to deal with Hologram’s bowling. Murtazaa Ali top-scored with 24 but his team-mates struggled and finished the game 153-9 with Ali Ahmed the standout bowler with three wickets.
