  • Barcelona star Andres Iniesta has been warned to mind his own business after allowing himself to get embroiled in the increasingly bitter feud between Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho and captain Iker Casillas.

In the aftermath of Barca’s 4-2 victory over Betis on Sunday, the Spanish midfielder spoke out in support of his international team-mate, stating that he was perplexed by the goalkeeper’s ongoing omission from Madrid’s starting line-up.

“From the outside, it is difficult to understand his situation, especially when you consider what he represents and has done for Madrid,” Iniesta said.

“It is a difficult situation for him. Not only because he is not playing, but also because of everything else. I do not think it has got anything to do with a sporting issue, but everything off the field that you hear about.”

Mourinho was clearly agitated by the sound of a player from a rival team commenting on his selection policy and wasted no time in offering a riposte, storming: “Iniesta can say what he likes, but I think he should worry about himself.

“And he should worry about how his team is so different without Messi that they did what they did in the Champions semi-finals.”

Meanwhile, speculation is growing in Catalonia that Carles Puyol could be considering leaving the club due to his continual injury problems.

Puyol, 35, and who is under contract until 2016, underwent knee corrective surgery in March but has grown frustrated at how slow it has taken him to recover.
