  • Diego Milito hit four goals but Inter were unable to beat Palermo as Fabrizio Miccoli’s treble for the visitors secured a 4-4 draw in a remarkable game in Milan.

Palermo defender Andrea Mantovani opened the scoring in the 17th minute but Milito struck back for the Nerazzuri five minutes later before six goals were scored in the second half amid heavy snow in northern Italy that made the ball difficult to see at times.

Miccoli claimed his first on 52 minutes before Milito equalised again, this time from the penalty spot.

The Italian and the Argentine then engaged a straight shootout with Milito completing his hat-trick on 61 minutes but Inter’s lead lasted just five minutes as Miccoli levelled.

Milito claimed his 12th Serie A goal of the season moments later but it was Miccoli who had the final say, turning in another equaliser five minutes from the end.

AC Milan handed Juventus the advantage in the Serie A title race as they lost 2-0 at Lazio.

Milan trail Juve by a point at the top but the Old Lady of Turin have a game in hand after their match at Parma on Tuesday night was called off due to snow.

It was a game of little action and few chances in the capital but but 14 minutes from time Tommaso Rocchi’s clever dummy put Hernanes in and he hooked his shot across the Milan goalkeeper.

Rocchi then made the points safe five minutes from time as he clipped home a cross from Senad Lulic.

Meanwhile, third-placed Udinese closed the gap to the leaders to three points with a 2-1 win at home to Lecce.

New signing Michele Pazienza took just two minutes to open his account on his return to the club, heading home Antonio Di Natale’s free-kick.

David Di Michele scored with a stunning shot from 25 yards out on the left that flew inside the far post.

But Di Natale secured the win when he was fed by Antonio Floro Flores following a mistake from goalkeeper Massimiliano Benassi.
