  • FIFA president Gianni Infantino will head the list of distinguished speakers at the 13th edition of the Dubai International Sports Conference (DISC).

The two-day conference will be held at Madinat Jumeirah on January 2-3, and will conclude with the Dubai Global Soccer Awards, the premier Awards for world football.

The conference, organised by the Dubai Sports Council, has been conducted every year since 2006 and was established to bring together the leaders in all areas of football including chairmen, directors, referees, agents, players and coaches to share their expertise and experience during two days of workshops and presentations.

This year the theme of the conference is ‘Football and the Economy’ which is expected to generate lively debate among the delegates.

Joining Infantino in Dubai will be Brazil legend Ronaldo, France manager Didier Deschamps and Juventus star Blaise Matuidi in a session titled “The World Cup Experience and Value of Success”, which will be the final discussion on the second day.

Ronaldo was a member of Brazil’s World Cup winning teams of 1994 and 2002. He also won the Golden Ball at the 1998 World Cup and is the second-highest goalscorer for his national team behind Pele.

Deschamps is no stranger to success on the grand stage either, leading Les Bleus to World Cup glory in 1998 and managing the side that lifted the prestigious trophy in Russia earlier this year. Matuidi, a member of the 2018 winning team, will also be on hand to provide his first-hand experiences of being part of a recent successful team.

In a fitting end to two days of sharing the latest innovations and ideas, Infantino will also be a guest of honour and an Award presenter at the prestigious and highly anticipated Dubai Globe Soccer Awards which will be staged on January 3, recognising the best performances of the season from players, coaches and administrators.
