  • New favorite boots: Omar Abdulrahman.

UAE star Omar Abdulrahman has been hand-picked alongside some of the biggest names in world football to help launch Nike’s new boot.

The US Sportswear giant on Thursday unveiled the Hypervenom II, their latest offering in a long line of groundbreaking football boot designs.

The eagerly-awaited release, an upgrade on the hugely-popular original Hypervenom series, is being promoted by the likes of Barcelona star Neymar, Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, PSG’s Edinson Cavani and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.

And as evidence of his ever-growing stature in the game, they are joined by Al Ain playmaker Abdulrahman, who has seen his global reputation skyrocket thanks to his sensational displays at January’s Asian Cup in Australia.

The 23-year-old is known for his silky touches and effortless ball control and he believes the new boots can only help accentuate his unique playing style.

“When I tried it for the first time, it made me feel confident because of its flexibility and the control of the ball,” he explained.

“It is like an extension of my foot. I am so excited to play wearing Hypervenom II.”

The duty of premiering the new boot belongs to Neymar, however, and he will lace them for the first time as Barcelona celebrate their newly-won Spanish title in their final league game of the season against Deportivo at the Nou Camp on Saturday.

The Brazilian will then hope they can help him inspire yet more glory as the Blaugrana look to complete the treble with the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao on May 30, and the Champions League final against Juventus a week later in Berlin.

Hypervenom II can give Neymar an extra edge.

Having already netted an incredible 37 times this season, Neymar is clearly not short of belief, but he feels his new footwear can give him an extra edge as he looks to go down in Barca history.

“I feel confident wearing the Hypervenom II,” he said. “I’m able to change direction, accelerate and evade defenders without hesitation and I also love the look of the boot.

“If you feel good, with your game outfit and mainly your boots then your performance may be better.”

Hypervenom II is designed for attacking players who are ‘deceptive by nature on the pitch’, capable of moves in any direction and usually making the one their opponent least expects, according to Nike’s design team.

Nike Hypervenom II will be available via the Nike Football app beginning May 25.

It is also the first Nike Football boot to mix a Flyknit collar with an enhanced mesh upper, complete with NikeSkin and All Conditions Control (ACC).

“This is foot-informed design at its finest,” explained designer Nathan VanHook.

“All of the linear angles on the boot align with the natural flex of the foot. The Flywire powers a lockdown system that prevents the foot from sliding within the boot. We didn’t design a boot that works for the foot, but rather with the foot.”

Nike Hypervenom II will be available via the Nike Football app beginning May 25 and on www.nike.com from May 27.  A women’s colorway will be available via the Nike Soccer app in North America from June 2, with further release information to follow.
