  • Jordanian midfielder Anas Bani Yaseen has completed his move to UAE Pro League club Al Wahda.

The 23-year-old completed the move on Wednesday after flying to Abu Dhabi and successfully passing his medical. He has signed on a two-year deal and will be one of the allowed quota of foreign players after Wahda dismissed their four Brazilians – including striker Fernando Baiano.

According the club’s official website, Bani Yaseen has revealed that he chose Al Wahda, who finished sixth in the Pro League last year, over Al Nasr in Dubai, Qatar’s Al Khor and Nasr in Saudi Arabia. Revealing the reasons behind his choice, he said that Wahda’s previous participation in the Club World Cup and their ability to challenge for honours were key factors.

“I have had a strong desire to play in the UAE league after many years as a professional,” he said. “It has a strong resonance as a centre of sport.

“I am keen to develop my game and put into practice the experience I have gained with the Olympic team and the Arabi club in Jordan. Participating in the World Cup means I have a conviction in my professionalism, especially with the exceptional level of players who appeared in the tournament.”

Bani Yaseen, who has also played for Qadisiya in Kuwait, went on to say that he feels comfortable in the UAE and that it is his “second home”.

Bani Yaseen already has 37 caps for Jordan, scoring three goals.
