Diego Maradona’s Al Wasl Club have been quick to appoint a new board following Friday’s mass resignation by the management following a disappointing 2011/12 season.
Mohammad bin Fahad has been retained as the Chairman of Al Wasl Football Club, while the new board comprises Mohammad bin Dukhan, Obaid Al Shamsi, Obaid Mubarak, Ismail Rashid, Suwaidan Al Nabooda, Hassan Taleb, Fahad Khamis, Sami Saeed, Jasim Rajab and Abdullah Al Rumaithi.
Mohammad bin Dukhan is also tipped to become the new Chairman of Al Wasl Football Company as a source at the club told Sport360° that more changes could be expected in the coming days.
“This is a complete overhaul of the board and there could be more changes in the way this club is run,” the source said.
Despite having the inspirational figure of the former Argentina manager in the dressing room, the Cheetahs went winless in both the President’s Cup and Etisalat Cup and finished eighth in the Pro League behind promoted Ajman last season.
To add to the poor on-field form, the behaviour of some of the fans and players remained questionable throughout the campaign, particularly Majed Naser and Essa Rashed, who got themselves sent off in the final of the Gulf Champions League, which Wasl lost on penalties.
