  • Egyptian left-back Milo wants to use the Olympic Games this summer to secure a transfer to Europe. The 21-year old has said that English club Arsenal have shown their interest and he wants to capitalise on this “once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Arsenal, along with Lyon, Benfica and Sporting Lisbon, have been linked with the 21-year old since he impressed at the Toulon Tournament, an annual event for under-21 players, in 2009 and in 2012. Past stars of the tournament that have gone on to play in the Premier League include David Ginola, Javier Mascherano and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Milo, full-name Islam Ramadan, has admitted that he will speak to officials at his hometown club Haras El Hodood about a transfer to England. He told FilGoal:“Arsenal officials have been following me since my participation in the Toulon tournament in 2009.

“And the English team got more interested in me after Toulon 2012 and I’m not waiting for their official letter so I can go there for tests.

“I will meet with the Haras Al Hodood officials before I leave with the Olympic squad on Thursday (to France for two warm-up matches) to understand their stance from this offer.”

Milo is known for his strength in defence but has often failed to show ability going forward and has often played centre-back over the past two years rather than his preferred position on the left. The Egyptian also has a strong left foot and has proven dangerous shooting from distance.

As well as numerous appearances for the Egyptian Olympic team, Milo has also been capped three times at senior level. Egypt play in Group C at this summer’s Olympics and will face Brazil, Belarus and New Zealand.

Milo, however, still might not feature in London as he faces fierce competition from other left-back Ali Fathi, but Milo feels he is capable of impressing Arsenal and making his dream move.

“I believe the Arsenal scouts will watch me closely at the London Olympics. My participation at London 2012 is what will determine my next step, and I hope to come to a European club.”
