  • India narrowly missed out on the knockout stages.

Stephen Constantine has resigned as India coach following their elimination from the Asian Cup.

The 56-year-old Londoner revealed he was bringing an end to his second spell in charge following the 1-0 defeat by Bahrain.

“I feel my cycle here is finished. I have left the players here in a much better place than when I arrived,” Constantine said at his post-match press conference, according to Fox Sports Asia.

India were on course to qualify until Jamal Rashed scored a stoppage-time penalty, which saw them slip to fourth in their group.

Contanstine, who once coached at Millwall, took over the national team for the second time in 2015.
