  • Bucker previously managed Lebanon.

Bucker, 67, rose up the wanted list of several clubs because of his success last term in keeping the Arabian Gulf League new boys up.

Discussions about a fresh deal had been going on since before survival was secured on the final day thanks to a 10th-placed finish, both Al Wasl and Emirates Club intermittently linked with attracting him.

But the Fishermen announced on their official Twitter account early Saturday morning that the German had committed to another season on the east coast.

The ex-Lebanon boss has already wrapped up a pair of new signings this weekend, with midfielder Khalifa Alqaydi joining from promoted Hatta and defender Omair Al-Hosani from Al Dhafra.

Dibba had been hotly tipped to repeat the immediate relegation from their previous top-flight campaign in 2012/13.

Yet Bucker’s side never truly appeared at risk, despite a late-season collapse meaning they had a minimal risk of suffering the drop during the last round of matches.

Helped by the goals of experienced Ivorian Boris Kabi and invention of lively Burkinabe playmaker Bakari Kone, the team spent most of the time in the comfort of mid-table.

This achievement was put into focus by the disastrous form of fellow promoted team Al Shaab, whose haul of just seven points was the lowest ever in the professional era.

Dibba open up 2016/17 with the visit of First Division League runners-up Ittihad Kalba on September 15.
