  • New arrival: Ronaldo Mendes.

Al Wasl last night announced a quartet of deals as they continued to reshape new coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s squad.

The headline acquisition was Brazilian playmaker Ronaldo Mendes. The 23-year-old joins from Comercial Vicosa on a five-year deal, after giants Santos decided not to make his year-long temporary switch permanent. He replaces appalling Kuwait SC loanee Rogerinho in the four-player foreign quota, with one spot left open after Portugal midfielder Hugo Viana’s exit.

Confirmation of 29-year-old Al Jazira right-back Khalid Sabeal’s switch also arrived, although the part-exchange deal to take midfielder Salem Abdulla to the capital did not appear.

Goalkeeper Sultan Al Mantheri, 21, followed his experienced team-mate to Dubai on a five-year deal. Midfielder Khaleil Khameis, 23, has also joined the Cheetahs – who finished sixth in the 2015/16 Arabian Gulf League – on a four-year deal from relegated Fujairah.

Meanwhile, Ittihad Kalba have rewarded lethal forward Mihai Costea for firing them back into the top flight by tripling his wages and handing out a two-year extension.

Costea, 28, rocketed in 17 goals in just 11 First Division League games as the Tigers finished second.

Dibba Al Fujairah are close to adding miniscule left winger Hamed Kone to their squad.

Kone, 28, scored five times in 30 Liga 1 games as Voluntari avoided relegation in Romania.

When the deal for the Ivorian is announced, he will join South Korean centre- back Heo Jae-won, 32, at the club.
