  • Balazs Dzsudzsak (Al Ain).

Al Ain tactician Pedro Emanuel has insisted “celebration is part of football” after debutant Balazs Dzsudzsak’s jubilant reaction to his goal at former employers Ittihad Kalba.

The Boss eased to a 4-1 victory in Friday night’s rearranged Arabian Gulf League clash, this result taking them second. Attention had, however, centred on the Hungary skipper because of his shock release from the Tigers during this month’s winter market’s deadline day and subsequent switch to the Garden City-outfit on a deal until the end of 2019/20.

The 33-year-old declined to ignore modern custom and mutely welcome his swept finish in the 71st minute at Ittihad Kalba Club Stadium, the venue he’d called home since September 2018, instead wheeling away in joy. Coach Emanuel saw no problem with this gesture.

He said: “Celebration is part of football. I believe that the joy of the player to score his first goal with his new team is very important for him, for sure.

“He has another badge and their fans are waiting to celebrate.”

French-Egyptian teenager Omar Yaisien struck home from just inside the penalty box to open his account for Al Ain and put the visitors ahead on 17 minutes. Ex-Germany Under-21 international Peniel Mlapa bulldozed through to level things up three minutes later, prior to prolific Togo striker Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba rifling into the roof of the net just before the break for an astounding 17th effort in 15 top-flight matches.

Dzsudzsak and Brazilian forward Caio Canedo then finished efficiently in the second half to ensure Al Ain moved five points behind leaders Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club.

“Our next goal is to top the ranking and if I did not believe in the capabilities of my team I would not have come here,” said ex-Porto defender Emanuel, who joined last month.

Match-week 17 of the AGL will be held on February 27-28.
